A Conversation Inside the Studio
It was an honor to be interviewed by Mayor Denis Bilodeau of Cornelius for a conversation centered around art, process, and the role of creative practice within a growing community.
The studio is not simply a workspace—it is a living environment for experimentation, reflection, and material exploration. Having that space acknowledged through dialogue with local leadership made the experience especially meaningful.
Art, Place, and Community
This conversation naturally extended beyond the work itself and into the broader context of place.
Cornelius continues to evolve as a community, and with that growth comes a deeper awareness of how art contributes to identity, culture, and shared experience. Moments like this reinforce the idea that creative practice does not exist in isolation—it is shaped by the environment around it, and in turn helps shape that environment.
Inside the Studio Practice
During the interview, we discussed the nature of process-driven work and the importance of material exploration within my practice.
Rather than focusing solely on finished pieces, the studio operates as a space of continuous development—where ideas are tested, layered, refined, and often reimagined entirely. The work is built through repetition, observation, and a constant dialogue with material.

Reflection
Conversations like this serve as a reminder that art is not created in isolation.
It is shaped by place, by dialogue, and by the people who engage with it. Having the opportunity to share my studio practice in this context was both grounding and affirming.
The studio continues to evolve as a space for exploration, and I look forward to what develops from here.
