Return & Refund Policy

At Michael John Valentine Fine Art, every piece is created with intention, craftsmanship, and an uncompromising standard of quality. Because our artwork is original, limited, and often created using layered overpainting techniques, we maintain a clear and fair return policy that respects both our collectors and the integrity of the art.

All Sales Are Final – Original Artwork

Due to the nature of original, one-of-a-kind and limited-edition artwork, all sales are final. Each piece is carefully inspected, documented, and accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (COA) prior to shipment.

We do not accept returns or exchanges for:

  • Original paintings
  • Limited editions
  • Commissioned artwork
  • Artwork that includes a Certificate of Authenticity

This policy protects the exclusivity, provenance, and collector value of each piece.

Damaged Artwork During Shipping

If your artwork arrives damaged, please contact us within 48 hours of delivery.

To be eligible for a damage claim:

  • The artwork must be unopened or minimally handled
  • You must provide clear photos of:
    • The damaged artwork
    • The packaging (inside and out)
    • The shipping label

Once verified, we will work with you to resolve the issue, which may include:

  • Repair (when possible)
  • Replacement (if available)
  • Refund in rare circumstances

Damage claims submitted after 48 hours may not be eligible.

Incorrect or Defective Items

If you receive an item that is incorrect or has a manufacturing defect (not including natural texture variations, brushwork, or intentional artistic elements), please notify us within 7 days of delivery.

Approved cases may be resolved through:

  • Replacement
  • Store credit
  • Refund (at our discretion)

Non-Returnable Conditions

Returns and refunds will not be issued for:

  • Buyer’s remorse
  • Color or texture preferences
  • Natural variations in texture, brushwork, or finish
  • Improper handling after delivery
  • Artwork hung in high-humidity or direct sunlight environments

Please note: colors may vary slightly due to screen settings and lighting conditions.

Certificates of Authenticity

Any artwork that has had its Certificate of Authenticity separated, altered, or damaged is not eligible for return or refund under any circumstance.

Refund Processing

If a refund is approved:

  • Refunds are issued to the original payment method
  • Processing time is typically 5–10 business days
  • Shipping costs are non-refundable
