25 Year Arturo Fuente Opus X Cigar

Price range: $15.00 through $2,895.00

” When creating this art it was first most important to actually experience the cigar. Next I visited The Dominican Republic and created an abstract based on cigar leaves and cigar ends. I placed those into the background and worked the cigar smoke in and around the 25th Year Anniversary Opus X Cigar. This is conceptual art until it is actually placed on exhibition canvas and overpainted with acrylics and glazing. When that happens the smoke will jump off the canvas and the background will explode in texture and colors and I will sign the front of the canvas!” Michael John Valentine

25 Year Arturo Fuente Opus X Cigar

The 25-Year Arturo Fuente Opus X Cigar Art by Michael John Valentine is a luxury fine art tribute to one of the most iconic cigars in the world — the legendary Arturo Fuente Opus X. This piece is not simply a depiction of a cigar; it is a layered meditation on craftsmanship, legacy, and the ritual of refined living. Built for collectors who value exclusivity and atmosphere, it bridges the world of fine art with the culture of cigar connoisseurship.

Across Valentine’s cigar series, the Opus X is treated as a symbol of mastery and arrival. The 25-year anniversary concept elevates that narrative even further, referencing a quarter-century of the Fuente family’s achievement in producing one of the first Dominican puros — a cigar that redefined what was possible in global tobacco craftsmanship. Within the artwork, the cigar becomes a focal emblem of discipline, patience, and heritage, rendered with dramatic contrast, rich tonal layering, and atmospheric abstraction that suggests smoke, memory, and time dissolving into light.

At the heart of this work is Michael John Valentine’s signature overpainting process, a method that defines the tactile depth and collector-grade finish of each piece. The foundation begins with layered acrylic applications, often combined with mixed media elements to build structure and tonal complexity. Valentine then returns to the surface repeatedly, refining highlights, deepening shadows, and enhancing texture through controlled overpainting. This technique creates a dimensional surface where the cigar, lighting, and surrounding abstraction feel physically embedded in the canvas rather than simply painted onto it. A final protective glazing locks in depth, intensifies color saturation, and preserves the artwork for long-term archival stability. Each piece is then hand-signed, reinforcing its individuality as a one-of-one studio creation.

Every artwork is issued with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), which verifies its origin directly from the artist’s studio practice. The COA is more than documentation—it functions as a collector’s assurance of provenance, confirming that the piece has passed through Valentine’s studio process, including its overpainting stages and finishing glaze. For collectors building curated environments—private lounges, cigar rooms, executive offices, or gallery walls—the COA elevates the work from décor to documented fine art asset.

The foundation of Michael John Valentine’s artistic authority is rooted in decades of formal training and lived experience. He began studying art at an early age at an art institute in Ohio and later completed his formal education at Kent State University, earning a Bachelor of Fine and Professional Arts Degree. With over five decades of continuous artistic production, his work reflects both academic discipline and long-term mastery of mixed media, composition, and visual storytelling. This depth of experience is evident in the precision and intentionality behind every layer of his cigar series.

Equally important to the value of this piece is the environment in which it is created: Valentine’s three live studios and gallery in Cornelius, North Carolina (Lake Norman region). Each studio serves a distinct function within his creative ecosystem. One space is dedicated to primary painting and production of fine art works. A second studio is designed for oversized works, including large-format canvases, splatter techniques, gallery wrapping, and final assembly processes. The third studio functions as a curated experiential environment—part gallery, part collector’s lounge—where finished works are displayed in a lived-in context, allowing collectors and guests to experience the art in its intended atmosphere while actually smoking a cigar in the private lounge ( visit Cigar Art Experience -to learn more ). This multi-studio structure reinforces the authenticity of the work as both process-driven and exhibition-ready at every stage.

The cigar itself—especially in its 25-year anniversary framing—carries deep symbolic weight. The Opus X line is widely regarded as a pinnacle achievement in cigar craftsmanship, known for its rare Dominican wrapper, complex aging process, and full-bodied profile of spice, leather, cocoa, and cedar undertones. By selecting this subject, Valentine aligns his visual language with the same values of patience, rarity, and precision that define the cigar itself. The result is a dialogue between mediums: tobacco craftsmanship translated into visual form through paint, texture, and light.

Ultimately, the 25-Year Arturo Fuente Opus X Cigar Art is designed as a collector’s statement piece. It is not intended for passive viewing but for immersive environments where time slows down—lounges, private bars, libraries, and curated residential galleries. It embodies a philosophy that luxury is not excess, but intention; not speed, but ritual.

With its Certificate of Authenticity, multi-layer overpainting process, academic foundation, and creation within a three-studio professional environment, this work stands as both a visual object and a narrative artifact—capturing the essence of craftsmanship across both cigar making and fine art.
