Lost Worlds Brewing — An Original Artistic Interpretation

Some subjects naturally invite exploration. They suggest discovery, imagination, adventure, and the feeling that there is always something beyond the familiar. That spirit is at the heart of this original artwork created for Lost Worlds Brewing, where the owner personally selected this piece as a representation of the creative connection between art, craft, and the adventurous character of the Lost Worlds brand.

For me, creating artwork inspired by Lost Worlds Brewing was an opportunity to step outside the traditional gallery setting and explore a different kind of visual storytelling. A brewery is more than a place where beer is produced. It can become a gathering place, a destination, and an environment where people come together around shared experiences. Lost Worlds has developed a distinctive identity around exploration and discovery, making it an especially interesting subject for an original artist.

This piece was created with that spirit in mind.

Rather than simply reproducing a beer label or presenting a straightforward interpretation of the brewery, I wanted the artwork to feel like an experience of its own. My approach to painting has always been rooted in color, texture, composition, and style, using those elements to create an emotional response before the viewer begins to analyze the individual details.

That philosophy is particularly well suited to a subject associated with exploration.

The visual language of this artwork is designed to capture movement and energy while maintaining the refined presentation expected of an original fine-art piece. Layers of color, carefully developed surfaces, and dimensional visual elements work together to create depth. From a distance, the composition presents itself as a strong and engaging image. As the viewer moves closer, additional details and subtleties begin to emerge.

That layered experience is an important part of my work.

I have always been interested in the relationship between recognizable subjects and artistic interpretation. A familiar object can become something entirely different when it is removed from its ordinary environment and reconsidered through the eyes of an artist. That is what I wanted to accomplish here with Lost Worlds Brewing.

The result is not simply brewery-inspired décor. It is an original piece of artwork created around the personality and atmosphere of a distinctive local brand.

Having the Lost Worlds Brewing owner select this particular work makes the piece especially meaningful. The selection represents a direct connection between the artist and the destination for which the work was created. It also reflects something I value greatly as an artist: the opportunity to create work that has a genuine relationship with its surroundings.

My studio work encompasses a wide range of subjects, from abstract compositions and music-inspired pieces to cigar and bourbon still lifes, iconic objects, and highly stylized original imagery. Regardless of the subject, my goal remains consistent—to create artwork with enough visual presence to stand on its own and enough depth to continue revealing something to the viewer over time.

This Lost Worlds selection follows that same philosophy.

The artwork also represents an interesting intersection between two forms of craftsmanship. Brewing and painting may seem like completely different disciplines, but both involve an appreciation for process. Both begin with individual elements that must be carefully considered, combined, refined, and ultimately transformed into something greater than the individual components.

That connection between craft and creativity is part of what makes this collaboration compelling.

Lost Worlds Brewing has created an environment built around its own sense of adventure, while my artwork interprets that spirit through an entirely different medium. The finished piece becomes a visual extension of that experience—a way to bring the feeling of exploration beyond the brewery and into a private collection, studio, office, entertainment space, or other setting.

For collectors, original artwork has an appeal that reproductions cannot duplicate. There is a sense of individuality in knowing that the piece exists as a singular creative work. It carries the decisions made by the artist during its creation—the colors selected, the layers developed, the adjustments made to the composition, and the final details that ultimately determine the character of the finished work.

This is a one-of-one original interpretation of the Lost Worlds spirit.

My background in fine art, including my BFA from Kent State University and more than five decades of experience creating art, has given me the opportunity to continually explore new subjects and techniques. In retirement, I have embraced that freedom even more fully, allowing each new work to become an opportunity to explore color, texture, style, and the story behind the subject.

This Lost Worlds Brewing selection is a natural extension of that journey.

It celebrates a local creative destination while remaining firmly rooted in the language of original fine art. It is about exploration without needing to define exactly where that exploration leads. It is about craftsmanship, imagination, and the anticipation of discovering something new.

Most importantly, it is about how a familiar experience can be remembered through art.

For me, that is what makes this piece special. The Lost Worlds Brewing owner saw something in this particular work and chose it to represent the connection between the brewery and my studio. That selection gives the artwork a story that exists beyond the canvas itself.

And perhaps that is the perfect destination for a piece inspired by Lost Worlds.

Sometimes the most interesting journeys begin when you decide to see something familiar in an entirely new way.
