As I walked the ancient walls of Dubrovnik, Croatia, each stone beneath my feet carried centuries of vigilance, conquest, and myth. These ramparts—raised between the 12th and 17th centuries—once protected a proud maritime republic. In modern time, they became the cinematic bones of King’s Landing, the heartbeat of Game of Thrones. It was there, suspended between Adriatic light and medieval shadow, that this artwork was conceived.
The city’s limestone fortifications rise with disciplined elegance, their geometry shaped by survival and sovereignty. When the world of Game of Thrones arrived, Dubrovnik did not need to pretend. Its walls already spoke the language of power, intrigue, and destiny. Dragons, though fictional, felt inevitable—creatures of imagination summoned naturally by a city that has always lived between reality and legend.
The Series & the Myth
Game of Thrones reawakened humanity’s ancient fascination with dragons—symbols of dominance, destruction, and rebirth.
