Unwritten Echoes

“Every painting begins with a blank space, but what emerges is never truly empty. Within every layer of color, texture, and movement exists a story waiting to be discovered. The Unwritten Series is my invitation for each collector to become part of the creation—to see not only what I painted, but what they feel.”
— Michael John Valentine

Unwritten Echoes

Art has always existed between what is known and what is imagined. The most powerful works are not always the ones that tell us exactly what to see, but the ones that allow us to discover something personal within them. Unwritten Echoesis part of my ongoing Unwritten Series, a collection built around the belief that every canvas holds possibilities beyond the moment it leaves the artist’s studio.

This abstract composition represents the conversation between intention and interpretation. As an artist, I begin with an idea, a feeling, or an emotion, but the painting develops its own identity through the process. Layers of color, movement, and texture create a visual language that does not rely on words. Instead, it communicates through atmosphere, rhythm, and emotion.

The title Unwritten Echoes reflects the idea that every experience leaves behind impressions—memories, emotions, moments, and connections that continue to resonate long after they occur. Like an echo, a painting continues to evolve. Each person who stands before it brings their own history, their own perspective, and their own story. What one collector sees as movement, another may experience as reflection. What feels energetic to one viewer may feel peaceful to another.

That personal connection is what makes abstract art timeless.

My journey as an artist has always been about exploration. With a Bachelor of Fine Arts education from Kent State University and more than five decades devoted to creativity, I have learned that the most meaningful artwork is not created by following a formula. It comes from curiosity, experimentation, and the willingness to allow the unexpected to become part of the process.

The Unwritten Series represents that philosophy. These works are not about completing a story—they are about beginning one. The canvas becomes a starting point where imagination and emotion meet. The viewer becomes a participant rather than simply an observer.

Unwritten Echoes captures that balance between chaos and harmony. The composition invites the eye to travel across the surface, discovering details that reveal themselves gradually. Abstract art rewards patience. The longer you spend with a piece, the more it begins to communicate. A color relationship, a subtle texture, or a particular movement may become more meaningful over time, much like memories that gain importance as we revisit them.

For collectors, abstract art offers something uniquely personal. Unlike representational artwork, where the subject is clearly defined, abstraction creates space for individual interpretation. The meaning is not dictated—it is discovered. This allows the artwork to become part of the collector’s own environment, reflecting their personality, experiences, and emotions.

Every original work I create is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity, documenting the artwork’s origin and confirming its place within my collection. The COA is more than a document; it is part of the story and legacy of the piece. It provides collectors with confidence that their artwork is an authentic original creation, preserved as part of my lifelong artistic journey.

The Certificate of Authenticity connects the collector not only to the finished artwork but also to the creative process behind it. It represents the history of the piece—from the first marks placed on the canvas to the final details that completed the work. For collectors who value provenance and authenticity, this connection is an essential part of owning original art.

I believe every original painting carries an energy that cannot be replicated. The texture created by the artist’s hand, the decisions made during the creative process, and the emotional moments captured within the work all contribute to its uniqueness. A reproduction can capture an image, but an original preserves the experience.

Unwritten Echoes is ultimately about possibility. It is about the stories we carry, the memories we create, and the emotions that remain long after a moment has passed. The painting does not arrive with a finished explanation—it arrives with an invitation.

An invitation to pause.

An invitation to reflect.

An invitation to discover your own meaning within the colors and forms.

The beauty of the Unwritten Series is that the story is never completely finished. Every collector adds another chapter. Every space where the artwork hangs becomes part of its evolution. Every viewer creates a new interpretation.

The canvas begins with me, but the story continues with you.

Unwritten Echoes is not a painting waiting to be understood—it is a painting waiting to be experienced.
